I view myself as much more than a Guitar teacher or music educator, I am dedicated to my students' progress as individuals. I believe the critical thinking skills, dedication and patience, that one develops by studying music, are attributes that transcend the classroom; music helps instill forethought, integrity and the understanding of achievement, that students can apply to almost every aspect of life. Many of my students earn high marks and have won gold medals in the Royal Conservatory of Music's Music Development Program assessments.
A typical guitar lesson with me is generally split between technique and reading music. After a good foundation is laid the student can then bring music of their choice to the lesson, which will be incorporated into the study of technique and overall musicianship.
Music theory and songwriting are advanced topics that will be integrated with other lesson topics upon the student's request and readiness.
Rates: $30/half hour and $50/hour, weekly private lessons. (Rates may vary slightly if you employ my services through another institution, but are generally in the same range). Note: due to traveling time and scheduling gaps, students seeking guitar lessons in their home must sign up for special sessions, which are 45 minutes long and $200 per month, billed in advance. In home lessons are only available in certain areas. Send a lesson inquiry below!
Studying at the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of music (CCM) has provided me with a wealth of knowledge about the guitar. The degree requires the completion of a year long sequence of Guitar Pedagogy (the study of learning, ie. how students learn and how teachers educate). Whether you are interested in learning the basics, getting a handle on technique or taking a more serious look at articulation and phrasing, I think you will enjoy the way I teach.
